Useful Tricks

The "Stromboli" Hour: Ensure that you make it to either the pool terrace or restaurant bar of the hotel by sunset. Watching the sun set behind Stromboli, puffing smoke, is signature to this hotel. Order a "Spritz Calabrese"-often made with some local amaro-and enjoy the show.

Rent a Boat: While the hotel shuttle takes you to the beach, ask at reception for them to reserve for you a small "gommone" (dinghy) rental or even just a guided boat tour from Grotticelle beach. Only by sea can one understand-and discover-the myriad tiny coves such as "Praia i Focu" which are inaccessible by land.

Visit Tropea in the Evening: You are only a 15-20 minute drive from Tropea, the "Pearl of the Tyrrhenian." Drive there in the late afternoon/evening. Parking is difficult, so aim for the port parking lot and walk up the stairs. The vibe in Tropea's historic center at night is magical and very different from the quiet of the resort.

Sea View Room: Yes, it is. The normal garden view rooms are also quite fine but having the blue horizon to wake up with makes a huge difference in giving that feeling of luxury to the holiday. Also check if your room is in the main building or in annexes just in case walking is an issue since more walking may be required to reach the annexes.

Spa Discount: Check whether your booking includes the Spa Path. If not, pray for a "cloudy day" special. The first day that is not absolutely perfect weather for the beach, the spa will fill up quickly and you should reserve your spot early in the morning.
